Help Needed

But first here is what has been growing in the yard around the dead oak we had topped a couple years ago.

This is a fungus and evidently the deer thought it looked like it might be tasty as I saw the two fawn looking it over yesterday. Here's a close up:

Then this morning I see that some of it had been scattered around the ground.

Now for the HELP!!

I showed you the set of BOM I had made from Carol Doaks group and the last couple of days have been working on a setting. Decided on this.

So yesterday I got the center quarter square triangles made and figured the size I needed for the setting triangles but want to split them into two colors. Found I had enough odd WOW's to cut the white triangles needed.

So this is how it looks. Not sewn together yet but contemplating the finishing. I have put up some red strips and hung this blue floral from the Lakeside collection of TB. But in the picture you can't see the red very well. Guess the lighting was not good this morning. I find that when the flash works I get better colors.

Now I don't know if I like the floral or not. Should I look for something more like a plaid, stripe or more modernistic to go with these sharp points of blocks?

All suggestions welcome. Thanks for helping.

Interesting fungi. Now idea on the quilt. That is a puzzler to me. I will await your decision.

I like it, although I haven't seen your other choices. I guess I am a floral person, I always seem to gravitate toward them.

I think you are right, the floral is too traditional. How about something that pulls the lighter blue out? I don't think a plaid,it would be too traditional too. Maybe a tone on tone or a subtle strip? Good luck. Cathy

I agree with anonymous. I think something with the lighter blue would be good. I don't think the floral works with it. It will be a gorgeous quilt!

Truly a wonderful quilt! The border doesn't work for me though. You have a wonderful deep blue in the quilt, the red is a wonderful rich red, and then you have the floral which just sort of whimps out! Go for something richer and deeper in my opinion! Linda

This is such a classy quilt. The floral doesn't appeal to me. Does it actually need a border? The red seems to finish it off and frame it really well. If you decide on a border then I think something sharp and modern looking would work well, possibly a stripe,

I think a blue tone on tone for a deep contrast to pull out the blues in the blocks. The blocks look great.

So pretty Eileen. I have to say no to the floral also.
Those bright reds and yellows in a few of the blocks are really grabbing me, go bright Eileen!

I have to be contraire (of course) and say I like the floral - maybe thinner, so you don't see the pattern repeat of the floral. I think it softens the quilt, keeps the focus on the spectaculr blocks, and brings out the colors.

You know what? Now that I look at it again and read everyone's comments, it seems to me that a deep yellow would make for an interesting border. With the blue and white QSTs, I think it would look almost nautical and the PP blocks would look a little like flags. Then again, maybe it's just late at night and my imagination is running away with me! ROFLOL!

I say go for a blue tone. I am a blue person and I think it would really make the blocks shine.
Just my humble opinion. Looking good!
